Eminem 60 Minutes Interview - video
Eminem sat down with Anderson Cooper for a rare television interview on this episode of 60 Minutes. The rapper talked about his tumultuous childhood, his years of drug use, Recovery and the accusations that he is homophobic. Eminem took Cooper on a tour of the tough Detroit streets where he grew up — "I would change schools two or three times a year, so that was the roughest part," Eminem said — to the underground clubs where, as shown in the biopic 8 Mile, Eminem built up his hip-hop cred. In the interview's most introspective moment, Eminem details his 2007 drug overdose and how it forced him to reevaluate his life.

Erykah Badu goes in on the downfall of real Hip Hop

Erykah Badu recently aired out her issues with the current state of hip-hop and described how Hip Hop is evolving for the worse.
“How y’all gone stand by and let our music turn into pop techno cornball ass music. We don’t own our music no more. Come to think of it, did we EVER own it? when I say own our music , I’m not talkin bout the artist I’m talkin bout the people … let me be quiet. I wanna hear from the young people? easy for me to complain about this techno-pop cause i have a taste for something else. but how do u feel? These rappers ought to be shame of they damn selves, I’m talkin bout the mc’ s rappin over this pop techno music. I believe in pimpin the system but got D*MN! not like this #pop-technosongs.”
Erykah Badu also said she had nothing specific against techno sounds, however, stressed that it should not become a centerpiece of hip-hop.
“I like the idea of no distinction in race when it comes 2 music, but SOULkeepers, U dont give up the boom bip and the hump 4 the payday. I love house and techno as a side dish .But now it’s served as the main course AND that’s ALL u gone get. like chittlins in the back house. I love music PERIOD. just not ready to say goodbye to the boom bip and the hump .. kinda painful for my generation to see. just strange 2me. Yes, no1 wants 2B poor again. artist have2 sacrifice integrity of the music sometimes 2 make ends meet. this is understood.but gotD*MN now. if you’ve never tasted good p*ssy your satisfied with a** hole. (that’s terrible ain’t it .) lol
Erykah Badu”

President Obama Tells Rolling Stone he Listens to Nas & Lil Wayne

Rolling Stone:What music have you been listening to lately? What have you discovered, what speaks to you these days?
President Obama: …Thanks to Reggie, my rap palate has greatly improved. Jay-Z used to be sort of what predominated, but now I’ve got a little Nas and a little Lil Wayne and some other stuff, but I would not claim to be an expert. Malia and Sasha are now getting old enough to where they start hipping me to things. Music is still a great source of joy and occasional solace in the midst of what can be some difficult days.

John Robinson & Lewis Parker - International Summers

Im a little bit late to post this. This is John Robinson& Lewis Parker discussing the album "International Summers" which was released by a Germany based label Project Mooncircle in July 2010. I had a chance to listen to the album & it got some nice joints on it. My personal favorite is the lead single off the album "International Summers".The artwork from this album cover is very hot & well put together as well.

Fat Beats Closing

Iconic hip-hop music retailer Fat Beats will reportedly close its doors for good next month with the shuttering of the New York and Los Angeles locations.
After 16 years, Fat Beats has announced the closing of the legendary label's two remaining retail locations in New York and Los Angeles. Fat Beats will celebrate the legacies of the stores, which are scheduled to close in early September (New York: September 4th, Los Angeles: September 18th) by throwing a series of blow-out sales and tribute parties open to the public during their last weeks. Fans can check www.FatBeats.com for updates.
DJ Premier Says:
"The closing of Fat Beats is just like one of my friends passing away," DJ Premier said in a prepared statement. "They promoted vinyl at its highest degree for the culture of good music, and that makes it more difficult to say goodbye."
DJ Eclipse says:
"Anyone that's ever been to Fat Beats knows that it was much more then a record store," longtime manager and underground hip hop king DJ Eclipse told The BoomBox. "Other places claim to host 'where hip-hop lives,' but we really did live, eat and breathe Hip Hop. It was a meeting place for artists, DJs and customers alike. We took pride in promoting and pushing the indie artist that the average person may not have known about. Unfortunately in these times we are suffering from both the state of the music business and the economy. As sad as I am to see the retail portion of the company close I'll always remember the great in-stores we had here and fun times working with the staff."
